“Attraction” is the 3rd album that Sébastien Jarrousse devotes to his quartet. First there was “Wait and see” released in 2012 and “Old Fellow” released in 2016 (with Magic Malik as guest).
For this 3rd Album, Sébastien Jarrousse wanted to give a great place for writing because he invited 3 exceptional musicians: the great and incomparable Camille Durand (voice) who is as
comfortable in the blower section as in mélodies with Lyrics, Sébastien Llado, magnificent trombonist with an abundant creativity, and finally Gaetano Partipilo to Alto saxophone who comes to enchant us with his lyricism straight from Italy.
Sébastien Jarrousse’s pen will draw on many scholarships: Tommy Smith, Bob Brookmeyer, Maria Schneider, Brandford Marsalis, Wayne Shorter, Kenny Wheeler, Brandford Marsalis and of course John Coltrane.
“Let’s admit it, Sébastien Jarrousse is one of the most brilliant saxophonists of the French scene, coupled to a talented composer. Some even say that he is one of John Coltrane’s ‘grand-sons’, which is quite a compliment! Jarrousse indeed creates an abounding and epic universe with his quartet. This gifted musician plays at ease with his tenor saxophone as well as with a soprano. Specialists assert that he ‘puts up his art at the highest in the greatest musicians’ path’. (…) His quartet (drums, piano, bass and saxophone) improvises a contemporary music with a strong identity and a rarely seen energy. (…) Jazz amateurs will not be fooled and those who are not familiar with this music will discover it in the best way it could be.” Article published in CCAS (French Head of Culture, Sports and Spare-time Activities), July 2014.
